iTunes's Ping Feature Gains Twitter Support

Twitter has just announced it's support with Apple's iTunes Ping feature! You can link your Ping profile to your Twitter account and find the people you know on Twitter on Ping.
Starting today Ping, iTunes' new social network for music, and Twitter are making it even easier for people to share music discoveries with their friends by putting Ping activity, song previews and links to purchase and download music from the iTunes Store right in their Tweets on Twitter.com.
Also thanks to New Twitter’s embed panel, you’ll be able to see song previews and iTunes links directly in the Twitter home page.
On Ping you can easily link to your Twitter account to instantly find Ping users among the people you already follow on Twitter.

Once you’ve linked the accounts, whenever you Post, Like, Review, or tell your friends why you purchased a song or album on Ping, this activity will also be tweeted to your Twitter followers – complete with playable song previews and links to purchase and download music from iTunes.

Twitter for Android Gets Twitter iPhone App Features

Android users rejoice! Twitter for Android has received a major update which includes some awesome enhancements and introduces a more consistent experience keeping users well updated, connected and with access to features as compared to Twitter for iPhone App.
Major updates include Swipe on a tweet and options like retweet, links to the profile of tweeter, favorite etc.

Some of the major updates of the release are:
  • Tweet details page: Twitter has changer the layout of the timeline and introduced a Tweet details page, which you can access by simply clicking on a Tweet. This feature makes it easier to click on links and reply to, retweet, or favorite a Tweet.
  • Speed: The app is now even faster. In this version, Twitter has tried a new way of drawing a timeline of Tweets that optimizes for scrolling speed.
  • Pull to Refresh: This popular feature, which was first available through our iPhone app, functions just as it sounds – when you’re at the top of your timeline, simply pull down to load new Tweets.
  • Swipe to Reveal: Swipe across a Tweet to get quick access to several options, such as viewing a user’s profile, sharing a tweet, or replying.
  • Quote a Tweet: Clicking the retweet icon now gives you the option to quote a Tweet. Of course, you can still retweet as you normally would.

The app is out now on Android Market, get it while it’s hot!

Twitter CEO Ev Williams is Stepping Down to Focus On Product

Twitter is replacing CEO (Chief executive officer) and Co-Founder Ev Williams with COO (Chief operating officer) Dick Costolo, so that Williams “be completely focused on product strategy.”. We all were shocked when we saw the blog post by Williams talking about #NewTwitterCEO. Here's the blog post.
The challenges of growing an organization so quickly are numerous. Growing big is not success, in itself. Success to us means meeting our potential as a profitable company that can retain its culture and user focus while having a positive impact on the world. This is no small task. I frequently reflect on the type of focus that is required from everyone at Twitter to get us there.

This led to a realization as we launched the new Twitter. I am most satisfied while pushing product direction. Building things is my passion, and I’ve never been more excited or optimistic about what we have to build.

This is why I have decided to ask our COO, Dick Costolo, to become Twitter’s CEO. Starting today, I’ll be completely focused on product strategy.
Twitter was growing in the last two years since Williams was the CEO, he mentioned that when he started there were only 20 employees working at Twitter, today there are 300 employees. Also people were tweeting about 1.25 million tweets a day, now, about 90 million a day. Even in those same two years, Twitter grew from 3 million registered users to more than 160 million today. So, Ev Williams was really a great CEO.

Meet the New Twitter Website [Hands On]

Twitter's been trending on it's own social media website over the weekend about #NewTwitter, now, it's been revealed (at least for me). The new Twitter website is very similar to it's newly released iPad app with two-column style, the left one showing the stream and the right one providing all content, videos, images, and other content. The coolest feature in the new Twitter is embedded content, it'll now open in-line in the right column.
Of course, the biggest addition is adding pictures and videos embedded on the site, sixteen media providers are on the board including Twitpic, Youtube, Twitvid, Vimeo, Ustream, and other popular picture & video services. The search bar and settings has been given placement at the top of the site in its own header. Rollouts are selected by members not places, within weeks, everyone will get it, and also can get back to the old one (but no one would do that).

Ok, I don't want to talk a lot as the pictures and screenshots can say all what I need to say, but at least I can say, we can now give up our dedicated Twitter clients (TweetDeck, HootSuite, Echofon, etc.), Pictures below.

Time Line Stream [Left Column]

Two Most Requested Features, Come to New Twitter

Twitter will enrich its new web interface with some new features, today we were tipped with arrival of the most requested features which will be touchable in the New Twitter. the two features are "Reply to All" and "Auto-complete"

Reply-to-all function does exactly what you would think, so that if some names are mentioned in a tweet, your reply button will now reply to all mentioned names. If you want to remove any of the mentioned names, you have to handle this manually.
Auto-complete function allows you simply start with the '@' sign and type the first letter of any name, then it will automatically suggest you with names.
Some of these feature may be already existing on some Twitter client apps, but we can't forget the big amount of users who just use the service wia twitter.com, Any way it seems like we will surprised with tons of the new amazing features on the NewTwitter interface.

Twitter is Under Attack [WARNING], [Updatet 1x]

A new Twitter security flaw has been widely exploited on thousands of Twitter accounts, this was due to a new Javascript exploit that is currently spreading like wildfire across Twitter service. The bug is particularly nasty because it works on mouse-over only. that means pop-ups and third party website can open even if you just move your mouse over the offending link.
JavaScript function called onMouseOver is behind this flaw, which creates an event when the mouse is passed over a chunk of text. For who are using third party twitter apps, they are safe from the bug.

Update 1: Few minutes ago twitter has mentioned fixing of this bug.
We've identified and are patching a XSS attack; as always, please message @safety if you have info regarding such an exploit.

New Twitter Web Interface, Really AWESOME

Twitter has announced that it's rolling out a new version of its web interface, called NewTwitter. As usual some users will start seeing Twitter new look as soon as tonight, and it will be availble for all Twitter users over the next few weeks, In the New Twitter, you will find @mentions, retweets, searches, and lists just above your timeline, On the right, you can see the features you’re familiar with, including whom you recently followed and who recently followed you, favorites, and Trending Topics.
These changes will roll out as a preview over the next several weeks. During the preview, you'll be able to switch back and forth so you have time to grow accustomed to the way things work. Eventually, everyone will have the updated version of Twitter.com.
The most amazing feature in the new Twitter look is the ability of embedding photos and videos directly on Twitter. Few days ago we mentioned that Twitter surpasses 145 million registered users, so I think the new Twitter interface will be a new milestone with the amount of registered users, and it will leads to spark the competition with Facebook.

Twitter Fast Follow Send Users' Tweets To Your Phone , No Account needed

Twitter continues the improvement of its services, we just announced about the twitter official tweet buttons, today twitter just announced a new amzaing features.
We’ve always been big fans of trusty SMS messaging. In fact, sending a text was originally the only way users could tweet. This is why Tweets are 140 characters -- they need to fit into a text message. more
Fast Follow:
The new fast follow let you follow anyone anywhere, for example if you are out and about find someone who is on Twitter, you don't have to remember their name for later, you just text "follow [username]" to 40404 , this will let you start following this user.

SMS Alerts:
By texting "on [username]" or 'off [username]' , that will let you turn your SMS alerts for a this user on or off, in addition if you text "get [username]" is another mobile feature, this will allow you to get the most recent Tweet from this user sent right to your phone.
This will be a feature to the users who are using devices that doesn't support application.
Note: this option is available inside the USA, Twitter now working to enable the new feature outside the USA.

Twitter is Launching Official Tweet Buttons This Week

Big News! According to Mashable, Twitter is introducing it's own tweet buttons this week and it may be available by Thursday. All Site owners now use the popular TweetMeMe's buttons but may be Twitter give it a way to a better tweet buttons? Here's a fast review of the official tweet buttons,

As appears, Tweet buttons will be easy and will get tracking codes for site owners to help them more and more! It's just a simple code to copy and paste on your site / blog.

Of course there's three styles for the button (Horizontal with Count, Horizontal without Count, and Vertical with Count) as shown below.

Twitter seems hell-bent on touting the simplicity of the service as TweetMeMe is not giving a perfect service because users must allow TweetMeMe on their Twitter accounts to be able to ReTweet. So Stay Tuned and we will be sure to inform you with any updates!
